“An abortion allows a woman to go on with her life, and continue fulfilling her responsibility to herself, to her family and children, and to society." P. Lunneborg, 1992
In case of an abortion it is important that you have taken the decision for it yourself and that you are convinced that this is the best decision under the given circumstances. Also it has proven to be very helpfull if you are supported by your partner or a close friend. An examination by a gynecologist or consultation with an counselling center can be helpful. However, this is neither compulsory in Austria nor a prerequisite for having an abortion. Furthermore there is no legal waiting period for an abortion.
Access to abortion is legal without a waiting period, nor an obligatory counselling in a counselling institution. Also the country of origin of the woman has no importance and women from other countries have the same access to abortion as women from Austria. Furthermore abortions are not notifiable in Austria and the names and contact details are not shared with anyone.
For counselling and treatments we kindly ask you to make an appointment by telephone.
